IEA Submission: Budget 2023
Budget 2023 comes at a time when the business community needs certainty as well as a
clear future-focused direction of travel. Delivering positive outcomes in the interest of trade
is in the national interest and the IEA believes that continued effective direction from
Government is key to the economy’s success. We submit our recommendations to ensure
that the interests of Irish exporters remain integral to the Government’s important work.
The IEA are calling on the Minister for Finance, the Minister for Public Expenditure and
Reform and the Ministers’ departments to ensure that Budget 2023 supports businesses,
particularly those that trade internationally and those without who’s services this trade
would not be possible. Exporters, importers, and supply chain actors will continue to drive
economic activity despite challenges afoot. This submission seeks to address the concerns
of IEA members under the following headings:
➢ Supporting Irish Entrepreneurs and SMEs
➢ Supporting Irish Businesses and businesses based in Ireland
➢ Evolving Technologies
➢ Addressing the Skills and Talent Gap
➢ Investing in Sustainable Global Trade
➢ Addressing Energy Concerns
➢ Reinstating a Global and Connected Ireland
