The European Union has pledged to become the first carbon neutral continent by 2050 – an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. The path to carbon neutrality is driven by the EU’s overarching European Green Deal which is embedded in Ireland’s Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021. Reaching the aim of carbon neutrality requires buy in from all sectors of society. Irish exporters, importers and supply chain operators are keen to play their part in achieving the national climate objective.
