Rosslare Europort is Growing
Since the start of 2021, Rosslare Europort has witnessed a major transformation both in terms of frequency and capacity in the services our shipping line customers are offering to and from Rosslare. The demand for these services can be clearly seen with overall freight up 55% at the port and continental traffic up 466%. Overall volumes in the port and surpass both 2020 and 2019 volumes in early September. On Saturday the 13th of November 1,000 units of freight travelled through the port, making it one of the busiest days in the history of Rosslare Europort.
Recently, Rosslare Europort announced a new service to Le Havre with Brittany Ferries. This new services by Brittany Ferries adds further capacity, frequency and choice for exporters and importers. Brittany Ferries who already have sailings from Rosslare to Bilbao and Cherbourg have enjoyed a great start to the new service with sailings fully booked out. This new service will further enhance and complement existing services operated by our shipping partners DFDS, and Stena Line who sail from Rosslare Europort to Cherbourg and Dunkirk.
The introduction of the new services to Le Havre increases the number of direct weekly RoRo services between Rosslare Europort and the continent to 30 per week. This ensures Rosslare Europort status as Ireland’s No.1 port for direct RoRo services to the continent.
While the UK market to and from Ireland is down in all ROI ports. Rosslare Europort has seen a steady volume return by Irish Ferries and Stena Line in the latter half of this year. Both Irish Ferries and Stena Line have been boosted by the return of passengers to and from the UK ports, Pembroke and Fishguard.
