IEA Submission: Service Area Policy 2023

Ireland’s domestic and international road freight sector is an integral part of the economy, with the vast majority of freight movements in Ireland taking place by road and with almost all international movements including an element of road freight. The road freight sector is a key employer in the State and makes a significant economic contribution, bringing products into Ireland, as well as supporting Irish exports.

The Irish Exporters Association have consulted with our membership, many of which are transport and logistics companies. Notable points were raised in relation to the adequacy of service area provision in Ireland and the standards of facilities provided for HGV drivers. Hence, we welcome the opportunity to feed into the TII’s service area policy.
