IEA Submission: Ten-year Strategy for the Road Haulage Sector

We welcome the Department’s initiative in developing a ten-year strategy for the road haulage sector and appreciate the opportunity to contribute the views of IEA members to this consultation. We would like to acknowledge and commend the work of Minister Hildegarde Naughton TD in her efforts to highlight the importance of the sector and bring forward the idea of publishing a robust and modern strategy for this key sector of the Irish economy. Our submission is drafted in cooperation with our members, particularly those in the transport and logistics space as they are well placed to feed into the ten-year strategy that they will ultimately drive. We posed six questions to members on the topics of Covid-19, Brexit, decarbonisation, road safety and skills and collated them into this submission.
