The Brexit effect on shipping; what will 2022 be like? – Presentation by Howard Knott
Howard Knott presents on the Brexit Effect and Shipping in 2022. View the slides of this presentation here
This presentation was prepared for delivery at the National Manufacturing and Supply Chain Event which took place at the RDS, Dublin on 23rd and 24th November. Due to COVID concerns and technical issues the presentation was not delivered at the event.
The main purpose of the presentation was to inform a non-specialist audience of a number of significant developments in the physical supply chains using ferries and Container Ships operating out of Irish Ports to and from Continental Europe. You will see from the “Rosslare 2019” and “Rosslare 2022” slides the most dramatic shift in routings being used by Hauliers and Trailer Operators to meet the post-Brexit situation.
The presentation does not pretend to offer a complete review of the situation both out of respect for the intended audience and due to the rapidly changing network of services being made available. For example, in the two weeks, since it was prepared, Irish Continental Group has purchased a further ferry which they will deploy on their Dover/Calais route in early 2022, bringing their schedule up to one departure from Dover every 90 minutes, and Container Feeder service operator Unifeeder has added a Dublin call to its weekly Ireland/Southampton service.
