David Carthy

David is the Irish Managing Partner for DLA Piper International LLP. DLA Piper has offices in over 40 jurisdictions and provides a global legal and tax service to its multinational, institutional, government and growing clients. He specialises in transactional M&A, fundraising (both from a company and investor perspective), shareholder arrangements and public listed company work including IPOs, takeovers and rights issues.

He acts for Irish exporting clients and US and international companies expanding into Europe and travels regularly to all parts of the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Marie Armstrong

Marie advises a range of internationally-quoted and large privately-owned companies and utilities on their tax planning requirements. She has extensive experience in international tax matters, including financing arrangements, structuring for acquisitions and transaction services advice such as due diligence.

Her clients cover a range of industries, including the medical/pharmaceutical industry, renewable/sustainable energy industry.

Barry Cullen

Barry has over 20 years experience in the FMCG sector, the last 10 of which has been focused in developing Export Markets for the various companies he has worked for.

Barry had previously spent 12 years with the Kerry Group in various Senior commercial roles both nationally and internationally.

During the last 7 years with the Silver Hill Company and during his Tenure, sales have doubled and the number of Export markets has increased from 9 to 30.

Barry joined the IEA Council in May 2018.

John Mee

Consumer Foods is a business unit within Glanbia Ireland with a specific focus on the manufacture and distribution of chilled foods, and milk and cream produce. Distribution is both within the 32 counties and internationally.

Kieran Spellman

Kieran Spellman is Managing Director of online sports betting product and technology development, risk management and trading business, 888spectate, a subsidiary of 888 Holdings plc. 888spectate employs 100 in its Sandyford technology development centre and is using proprietary technology to implement a disruptive and differentiated vision for the sector. Kieran has extensive commercial and leadership experience as CFO and COO of mobile payments, technology, healthcare, property development and construction businesses.

He is a graduate of Dublin City University and trained and qualified as an accountant with KPMG where he worked in international audit and transaction services in Ireland, Hungary and Malaysia.

Simon McKeever

Simon McKeever’s career to date has encompassed senior executive roles in global financial markets, business consultancy in Ireland, and more recently an outstanding track record in development of trade and trade policy & strategy across Ireland and UK. In addition to his background in Financial Services, his recent role at the British Embassy in Dublin placed him at the forefront of joint trade strategy between Ireland and the UK, where he developed a close working relationship between UK Trade and Investment and Enterprise Ireland. He was the driving force behind the creation of the British-Irish Chamber of Commerce, and his leadership on the Agri-food agenda has created a joint initiative that has kicked off the first Irish-British Food Business Innovation Summit in Dublin.

Simon spent 18 years working in global financial markets, with RBC and AIB Capital Markets. He is widely travelled and has done considerable business in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and the UK, in a business development capacity, winning new customers and rolling out new products.


Paschal McCarthy

Paschal McCarthy Management Services

Paschal is a Director of Fehily Timony Company, Holden Installations, Induchem Group, Alex Verification Services and runs his own Consultancy Business Paschal McCarthy Management and Consultancy Service. He is former Managing Director of GE Healthcare Ireland, a manufacturing subsidiary of The General Electric Company. Originally founded as Nycomed Ireland Ltd., before merging with Amersham International in 1997 and subsequently acquired by GE in 2004. Paschal was with the company since day 1, and has grown the operation from a European supplier shipping 3 million units to Western European markets to today, a global supplier shipping 20 million units to 70+ markets worldwide. From 1995 to 1997 Paschal headed up the company’s bulk chemical plant at Lindesnes, Norway.

Prior to joining Nycomed Ireland Paschal also worked with Schering Plough Corp. and Baxter Healthcare.
