Barry Cullen

Barry has over 20 years experience in the FMCG sector, the last 10 of which has been focused in developing Export Markets for the various companies he has worked for.

Barry had previously spent 12 years with the Kerry Group in various Senior commercial roles both nationally and internationally.

During the last 7 years with the Silver Hill Company and during his Tenure, sales have doubled and the number of Export markets has increased from 9 to 30.

Barry is the current President of the IEA. Barry joined the IEA Council in May 2018 and currently chairs the IEA’s Border-Midlands Network Group in which he brings together exporters in the region to discuss issues of concern to members, particularly Brexit.

David Carthy

DLA Piper 

David is the Irish Managing Partner for DLA Piper International LLP. DLA Piper has offices in over 40 jurisdictions and provides a global legal and tax service to its multinational, institutional, government and growing clients. He specialises in transactional M&A, fundraising (both from a company and investor perspective), shareholder arrangements and public listed company work including IPOs, takeovers and rights issues.

David held the presidency of the IEA in 2020. He acts for Irish exporting clients and US and international companies expanding into Europe and travels regularly to all parts of the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Marie Armstrong

Former President, Irish Exporters Association

Marie is a tax partner within KPMG’s general tax practice with over 20 years of experience.  She has worked extensively with Irish and Foreign multinational and privately owned Irish companies with operations in Ireland and across the globe including North and South America, the Middle East, Europe, Russia and Asia.

She has worked across a number of sectors including food, energy, engineering, medical devices, consumables and property. Her broad range of clients enables her to advise companies on a multitude of issues taking from her wide knowledge base.

Marie was formerly a board member of the Irish Cancer Society and is the Immediate Past-President of the Irish Exporters Association.

John Mee

Senior Vice President, Irish Exporters Association

John Mee has a wealth of experience in leading global supply chain operations for international organisations for over 20 years. John previously held the position of Supply Chain Manager for Glanbia.

John holds a Masters in Supply Chain Management, a Masters in Manufacturing 4.0, Advanced Business Forecaster, ISO Auditor, APICS Qualified, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, BSc in Data Science and Analytics from Thomas Edison State University, New York.

Through education and professional experience John has highly developed skills in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Creative Problem Solving and Business Strategy.


Kieran Spellman

Kieran Spellman is VP, Head of 888Sport and Managing Director of online sports betting product and technology development, risk management and trading business, 888spectate, a subsidiary of 888 Holdings plc. 888spectate employs 120 in its Sandyford technology development centre and is using proprietary technology to implement a disruptive and differentiated vision for the sports betting sector.

Kieran has extensive commercial and leadership experience as CFO and COO of mobile payments, technology, healthcare, property development and construction businesses.

He is a graduate of Dublin City University and trained and qualified as an accountant with KPMG where he worked in international audit and transaction services in Ireland, Hungary and Malaysia.

Simon McKeever

Chief Executive

Simon McKeever is the Chief Executive of the Irish Exporters Association (IEA) having held this position since 2013. Simon leads the Association’s work on several policy areas including COVID-19, Brexit, Market Diversification, Sustainable Trade and Investment and Trade Compliance.

The IEA’s participation on a number of Government stakeholder groups and EU forums is driven by Simon on behalf of the IEA’s broad membership base, which includes companies across the international trade industry. This broad membership base well places the IEA as a key interlocutor in the supply chain.

Prior to Simon taking up his current position as Chief Executive, he spent 3 years as Director of Trade and Investment at the British Embassy in Dublin, which placed him at the forefront of joint trade strategy between Ireland and the UK, where he developed a close working relationship between UK Trade and Investment and Enterprise Ireland. Simon was the driving force behind the creation of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, and his leadership on the Agri-food agenda created a joint initiative that has kicked off the first Irish British Food Business Innovation Summit in Dublin.

Paschal McCarthy

A Science Graduate of NUIG, Paschal hold an MBA from NUIG and a Diploma in Corporate Governance from the Institute of Directors (London). Paschal is also a Chartered Director.

Paschal has spent 35 years in Management in the Pharmaceutical industry in Ireland with Baxter Healthcare, Schering Plough, Nycomed Ireland, Amersham Health and laterally General Electric Healthcare (GEHC).

Currently Paschal is Director of ATEX Verification Services, Hol-Den Installations, Steel and Roofing Systems, Cronus Ventures Ltd, and Managing Director of Paschal McCarthy Management & Consultancy Services. Paschal was President of the Irish Exporters Association 2016/17.
