Minister Naughton launches 2022 IEA Export Series Programme – Trade compliance and sustainability key pillars for strategic advantage

Dublin, 4th March 2022: The Irish Exporters Association (IEA), along with partners Rhenus Logistics, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, and Fleet Transport Magazine launched its 2022 Export Series Programme with Hildegarde Naughton, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Transport with special responsibility for International and Road Transport and Logistics, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications with special responsibility for Postal Policy and Eircodes; and Minister of State at the Department of Justice with special responsibility for Civil and Criminal Justice at the Rhenus Chemical Logistics Damastown Warehouse in Dublin.

The IEA Export Series will support exporters and importers to understand and prepare for trade compliance and sustainability regulations and policies with a series of webinars and events focused on best practice across the supply chain, route to market multimodal and intermodal transport opportunities, as well as trading with third countries. With sustainability becoming an integral part of international trade, exporters and importers alike must now ensure they have a strong plan to make their operations sustainable, both in Ireland and throughout their supply chains abroad, and the 2022 Export Series’ will support companies commence the transition to more sustainable business practices within their businesses and across their supply chains.

Building on the success of previous years, the 2022 Export Series is a year-long programme, which consists of 5 educational webinars, 3 events, 25 Network Meetings, and 4 newsletters.

Minister of State for Transport, Mrs Hildegarde Naughton, stated: “I am delighted to join the IEA for the launch of their 2022 Export Series Programme. As Minister with responsibility for freight and logistics, it is superb to see such a targeted collaboration with key players in the industry including Irish Rail / Rosslare Europort, Rhenus Logistics and Fleet Transport Magazine. It is through partnership and co-operation that we can encourage and facilitate constructive discussions which will feed into business development and policy formation into the future. I am firmly of the view that policy must be informed by the lived experience of the transport and logistics sector – from family run operations to large scale organisations – we must ensure that the future of the sector is sustainable, and policy is fit for purpose. I am confident that the IEA 2022 series will instigate meaningful discussion and debate and I very much look forward to seeing the series of events taking place throughout the year.”

Simon McKeever, Chief Executive of the Irish Exporters Association, commented: “The Export Series is a key platform for us to inform and educate the international trading community on the latest industry issues, and an essential forum for the IEA to identify and gather the latest issues affecting our members in order to inform government and policymakers at national and European level.”

He added “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Rhenus Logistics, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail and Fleet Transport Magazine on this initiative. Together we will bring our members a strong programme of topics, content and real-life issue in addition to providing solutions to overcome business challenges.”

We are committed to investing in Ireland across technology, sustainable transport and sustainable supply chains.
