Irish Exporters Association Launches 2020 Export Series

The Irish Exporters Association (IEA), in partnership with Rhenus Logistics, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail and Fleet Transport Magazine, on Monday launched its 2020 Export Series, with a focus on Trade Compliance, the Green Supply Chain, and on Brexit and Market Diversification. The IEA initiative will support exporters with innovative thinking to understand and overcome barriers in the supply chain and win more international business opportunities.

This initiative, which runs until the end of the year, comes at a crucial time for Irish businesses and will run in tandem with the second phase of trade negotiations between the EU and UK. While Brexit will be a key point of discussion, the Series will also explore wider global trade issues, the US and Chinese markets and give prominence to the green supply chain. The Series consists of 5 seminars, 5 roundtables and 6 webinars. The IEA will circulate 4 electronic newsletters over the course of the series.

Simon McKeever, Chief Executive, Irish Exporters Association commented: “Our 2020 Export Series follows on from our successful Supply Chain series. The 2020 Series tackles the most pressing issues facing Irish exporters. New market entry, developing a green supply chain, meeting Revenue and Customs regulations, Brexit and the ongoing EU-UK trade talks are just some of the issues affecting exporters. This series is an important forum for the IEA to highlight emerging issues and to effectively communicate the concerns of its members to policymakers. I would like to thank Rhenus Logistics, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail and Fleet Transport Magazine for their continued partnership and support in running the Series.”

Declan Sinnott, Managing Director, Rhenus Logistics Ltd stated: “Rhenus Logistics is delighted to support the broader Irish Export Sector through our continued sponsorship of the IEA Export series of events in 2020. This great programme of events offers a platform for exporters to collaborate and cooperate in preparation to face future challenges relating to Brexit & Market Diversification, Trade Compliance and Climate Change”

Kasia Steyn, Freight Services Executive Rail/Road Iarnród Éireann – Irish Rail stated: “Irish Rail are delighted to work again with the Irish Exporters Association and be part of the Export Series for 2020. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate the potential and uniqueness of our Rail Freight, Navigator Road Agency and Rosslare Europort businesses. Through this year’s seminars we hope to flag the importance of lowering the CO2 emissions, look for “greener” transport solutions and to explore the possibilities of new rail and sea routes.  Again, we are excited to sponsor the informative, innovative and mind stimulating series of events and seminars planned for 2020. “

Jarlath Sweeney, Group Editor, Fleet Transport magazine stated: “The IEA seminar and round table series held around the country are so beneficial to all that attend. They cover relevant topics and offer great networking opportunities. On the new Green Supply Chain topic, there is a strong move towards electrification from many of the commercial vehicle manufacturers within the automotive industry, alongside is the full range of road transport, distribution and logistics supply businesses that are and will be in a strong position to offer a complete Green Supply Chain from the factory floor to the end user.  This IEA seminar will explore and discover the options available today and look into future developments to come.
