• IEA confirms support for sale of Aer Lingus to IAG

The Irish Exporters Association (IEA)  has confirmed its support of the sale of Aer Lingus to IAG.

Simon McKeever, Chief Executive of the Irish Exporters Association commented “The sale of Aer Lingus is of huge significance to the export sector in terms of job creation, transatlantic connectivity and growth. The news from the government supporting the sale of the airline is very positive for Irish exporters and will deliver employment growth by way of increased transatlantic traffic and the new jobs this in turn will create.”

Mr. McKeever also stated; “Better connectivity to and from Ireland is vitally important to grow our exports and the green light from the government is good news for Irish Exporters.  The sale of Aer Lingus to IAG would benefit Irish exporters by leveraging the global network reach and sales channels of IAG cargo business.  This global reach is of particular importance to the pharmaceutical sector in relation to temperature controlled air freight and the potential for developing aviation as a key growth sector in the Irish economy should not be underestimated”.
