Representation

Lobbying effectively for your business, industry and promoting Ireland as a competitive trade location.

Lobbying on behalf of companies on issues that matter to exporters and engaging with various stakeholders to support exporters throughout Ireland is a key focus of the national executive of the IEA. These issues include;

  • Competitiveness
  • Access to Finance
  • High Growth Markets
  • Support for new exporters

Policy Development

As well as determining our own policy around the key issues of Competitiveness, Access to finance, High Growth Markets and Support for new exporters, the IEA regularly contributes to the development of National Policy that affects the export industry. With seats on both the Export Trade Council and the Customs Consultative Committee we engage with the key agencies responsible for delivering these policies. We are invited to and make regular submissions to Government on items such as the Budget, Ports and Harbours, National Transportation Policy, the Action Pan for Jobs, the development of Foreign Trade Policy. We are regular attendees at Joint Oireachtas Committees, promoting the interests of our members.

Intervention

We speak directly to senior officials in government departments to help members find solutions to export related issues that may be affecting their business. Often the information we can provide can save valuable resources in our members companies including time and revenue.
