In 2014, the Irish Exporters Association set up an initiative for Latin America called the Latin America Trade Forum to support Irish companies looking to export to Latin America and promote and foster trade, economic and commercial relations between Ireland and Latin America.
While the LATF programme itself finished in December 2015, the IEA continues to assist its members in building trade with Latin America by:
- Promoting greater trade and economic and business ties between Ireland and Latin America through the organisation of regular networking and information seminars and events
- Lobbying government on topical matters relating to trade between Ireland and Latin America
- Providing Irish companies and business leaders with the necessary information and support to assist them in doing business in Latin America
In 2014, the Irish Exporters Association through the LATF engaged with government to develop and influence policy on trading with Latin America and developed a long term strategic plan for Latin America with input from the Irish business community and other key stakeholders throughout 2014. Launched in 2015, this position paper serves as an overview of the trade and economic dynamics with a goal to encouraging discussion on policies for supporting trade and investment growth between Ireland and Latin America.
